CAPZA Strengthens its Team in Germany
CAPZA pursues its growth in Germany, announcing the promotion of David Schulte (Partner) to Head of Private Debt DACH, alongside the recruitment of 2 directors: Alexander Ball leads the Senior Loans Strategy DACH while Christopher Koch is responsible for the Flex Equity Strategy DACH. Both are based in CAPZA’s Munich office. A recruitment process is underway to expand the office further.
David Schulte (Partner) has been promoted to Head of Private Debt DACH within CAPZA’s flagship Private Debt strategy. The platform includes a team of 29 experienced investment professionals across France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Benelux. David is responsible for CAPZA’s private debt investments in the Germany-Austria-Switzerland (DACH) region by managing the existing portfolio and originating new attractive investments in close coordination with the European teams.
David Schulte has 15 years of dedicated credit experience in debt structuring and lending across the DACH region. Prior to joining CAPZA in 2022, he was Senior Vice President within ING’s global leveraged finance platform in Frankfurt, where he structured and underwrote LBOs, refinancings, and recapitalisations for financial sponsors in the German large- and mid-cap markets. He began his career in 2010 in London within Macquarie’s investment banking division.
Alexander Ball has recently joined CAPZA’s German office in Munich as Director – Head of Artemid Senior Loans DACH. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the senior loan strategy across the DACH region. With 15 years of experience in acquisition and leveraged finance, Alexander brings a strong track record of transactions executed across both the DACH and Benelux regions. His previous involvement in investment decision-making and portfolio management will further strengthen CAPZA’s growing senior loan activity.
Alexander began his career at Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets in London, where he worked as an Analyst in the Acquisition & Leveraged Finance group. In 2013, he joined Allianz Global Investors’ Infrastructure Debt platform as an Associate. After seven years in London and New York, he returned to Germany in 2017 to support Allianz Global Investors’ expansion into private debt—particularly in the German market—joining the European Private Credit team. Most recently, as Director, he was responsible for mid-market senior direct lending across the DACH, Benelux and Nordics regions.
Christopher Koch has been appointed Director for CAPZA’s Flex Equity strategy. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in private markets, he will be responsible for developing the Flex Equity platform by identifying and structuring high-value investment opportunities in the DACH region.
Christopher started his career at Arthur D. Little in Germany as a management consultant, before joining Partners Group in Switzerland, where he advanced from Associate to Assistant Vice President, focusing on private market investments across EMEA. He subsequently held key investment roles at a family-owned investment holding in London as well as LFPI Group (Switzerland) as Investment Director and Director. In 2020, he assumed the role of Managing Director at Nox Capital Fund Management & Advisory, with responsibility for private market investments in the DACH region.
These appointments reflect CAPZA’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Europe and bring additional expertise to its key investment strategies.

David Schulte – Partner and Head of DACH – Private Debt
Prior to joining CAPZA in 2022, David was a Senior Vice President in the Leveraged Finance group at ING based in Frankfurt, where he focused on structuring and underwriting LBOs, refinancings, recapitalization for financial sponsors in the German speaking region. David started his career in 2010 as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Leveraged Finance as well as Debt Advisory teams at Macquarie in London.
He holds a first-class MSc degree from Cranfield School of Management and a BSc from Nuertingen-Geislingen University.
Alexander Ball – Director – Head of Artemid Senior Loans DACH
Alexander began his career in 2011 as an Analyst in Acquisition & Leveraged Finance at RBC Capital Markets. He subsequently joined Allianz Global Investors, where he held successive roles of increasing responsibility, initially as Associate and later as Assistant Vice President within the Infrastructure Debt team, with assignments in both the United Kingdom and New York City.
In 2017, he was promoted to Vice President, European Private Credit, based in Germany, and advanced to the role of Director in 2023, with responsibility for the DACH, Benelux and Nordics regions. He played a key role in the establishment of Allianz Global Investors’ first Luxembourg-based direct lending platform.
Alexander holds a MSc Finance degree from Cass Business School in London and a BSc Business Administration from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.
Christopher Koch – Director for the Flex Equity Strategy DACH
Christopher commenced his professional journey in 2010 as an Analyst and then as a Consultant at Arthur D. Little in Frankfurt. In 2012, he joined Partners Group in Switzerland as Associate within the investment team, where he specialized as a multi-strategy investor and was promoted to Assistant Vice President.
In 2014, Christopher transitioned to a UK-based alternative investment holding, assuming the role of Investment Manager with a focus on special situations across private equity, public equity, bonds, hybrid securities, and real assets. Returning to Switzerland in 2016, he was appointed Director with responsibility for the DACH region at LFPI Group, leading multi-strategy investments in private equity, private debt, and real assets. In 2020, Christopher became Managing Director at Nox Capital Fund Management & Advisory, where he was responsible for managing and growing the company’s investment portfolio in the German speaking region.
Christopher holds a MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Technical University of Berlin as well as the CAIA designation.
